Let me tell you about our new favorite family getaway destination... the best part, it's only about a 5 hour drive from the Dallas area and you feel like you're stepping right onto the beaches of North or South Carolina! I am not even kidding you guys! Who knew beaches like that even existed in the Galveston area?
I am talking about POINTE WEST. What a dreamy little vacation destination. You can rent a condo or homes right on those beautiful Texas beaches.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
A huge plus of this vacation spot is you can save some serious dollars by not needing to book flights, plus you can provide all or as many of the meals as you would like to save on dining + cocktails each day! Obviously with the rentals being condos & homes they all have fully functional kitchens. You can also take your own cooler and chairs and things down to the beach (HIGHLY suggest bringing a wagon for this). So really the bulk of your vacation spending comes from gas + booking your stay. Did I mention the beaches are PRIVATE to Pointe West vacation rentals? Another huge plus.
The super awesome beach club however DOES have a restaurant & bar, gym, and infinity pool! There is also a lazy river located on the property. We planned 90% of our meals for the beach + condo, then "splurged" for a dinner or two at the club. The food is amazing by the way, and the drinks are STRONG. 😜
Pointe West is about 40-ish minutes from the main Galveston strip that most people are familiar with. I promise, it is worth the extra minutes! That said, keep in mind it's not much of an easy drive to get back into town often. There are a couple little corner stores and restaurants in the area if needed though. One of the restaurants to note is Waterman's. We stumbled upon this spot on our last trip to Pointe West and it did not disappoint! We actually can't wait to go back here again. Waterman's is about 15-20 minutes from the vacation rentals.

We seriously loved Pointe West so much our first trip there Father's Day weekend that we cancelled our San Antonio getaway just a couple weeks later to come back here! So glad we did.
